Windhoek Tennis Tournament — 26-27 January 2007

We left the MYO office at 8am on a Friday morning for our first tournament of the year. Mr. Rob drove 10 of our top tennis players along with chaperones Mr. Beau, Miss Alexis, Mr. Herman and head coach Mr. Julian. It was a long drive across the desert, but we stopped for a cool drink and some sweets—we spotted lots of baboons, ostriches and a Kudu along the way.

We played matches from 2:00 on Friday and all day Saturday. The matches were played at 4 different venues, so the MYO combi was busy moving players to the courts where they were scheduled to play.

RESULTS: MYO fared well in the tennis tournament, especially considering that our kids had not practiced since they left for their villages in early December. Competition was tough, as always.

  • Paulina finished 3rd in girls under-12 singles and 2nd in girls under-12 doubles

The rain delay gave everyone a rest, and a chance to cool off. The boys of course immediately started a soccer game.

The long weekend takes a toll on the ride home
